My Halloween Mantle

Hey ghoul, welcome to my haunted home! I’m excited to share my Halloween Mantle – I am calling it ‘The Boos Bar’… because it’s where these boney babes hang out! I don’t know if it’s because it’s 2020 (or maybe I’d dipped into some of that ‘boos’ myself) but I felt extra care-free putting this fun display together. It’s kind of like these skeletons came to life and told me what THEY wanted to be doing! lol Ooooh! Stranger things have happened this time of year!

Growing up, I had the best homemade Halloween costumes and decor, but we always kept things 'friendly' and steered away from the gore. To me, Halloween isn't about being frightened, it's about sweet treats, kids, fun and a chance to get creative!

This year, I've been seeing lots of skeletons and spiders… and I think that they are actually quite fun! I love how the black and white skeletons and spiders create a graphic look. My philosophy in fashion and decor is ‘pretty/edgy’. I thought it would be fun to work with these creepy characters, but I wanted to ‘do it up’ Kyla-Style… and to add some femininity! A simple can of pink spray paint brought these Gal-o-ween Queens to life with fun and fashion-forward personality! This blush colour gives them an elevated, customized look that you won't find in stores!

The skeletons, skulls, stir sticks, and spiders were purchased from Party City. The black and gold shot glasses were from Homesense and the pink spray paint was from Michaels. On Halloween night, I plan to add tea lights to the shot glasses to create a moody glow! I shopped my home for the added items you see. The ‘bar scene’ concept was a whimsical idea that struck as I played with various pieces from my home. Halloween is the perfect occasion to tell a story with your decor! Get creative and think of some household items that can bring a new dimension into your displays. My favourite ride at Disneyland is The Pirates of the Caribbean… this scene reminds me so much of it!

Get the look: A can of spray paint works wonders! A skeleton at Halloween is nothing revolutionary, but a soft pink one is a real conversation piece! Imagine black, gold, or even Tiffany blue… match your home decor or choose a colour that pops! Think about what you could spray to give it new life and a custom designed look.

I hope that you had fun visiting this post today and that a little bit of the Boos Bar whimsy rubbed off on you to create a fun scene of your own! Get out that spray paint and have a ball! Happy decorating and have a safe and fun Halloween!
