Essential Spring Outerwear

3 pieces to layer into your spring looks.

Spring is here and in the world of fashion, we are so ready to lighten and brighten up! The only problem is, spring often brings with it some pretty moody weather! This year, I’ve added these three outerwear pieces to layer into my wardrobe. I love the lighter colour palette and with these layers, I’m on trend and ready for anything!

soft spring blazer

The oversized blazer is not just for New York bloggers anymore... this is an up-leveled, functional style that deserves a second look. I’ll rephrase that – it deserves a try-on, k? Once I popped on this soft neutral coloured beauty, I felt instantly more confident and put together. This particular one from H&M is not too restrictive either, which is a must. I personally prefer mine barely oversized. Because I’m on the short side, I don’t want to come off top-heavy. I chose the size that was most flattering – more importantly the one I FELT confident in.

TRY: A light neutral blazer.
A blazer can be worn over almost anything, tying an outfit together with that stylish finish that shows the world (and the other school moms) that you got this trend... and you’re pretty badass too!

long puffer vest

Last season, I discovered the long puffer coat, so it’s only fitting that I bridge that ‘win’ into spring with this lighter vest version! This long, cream coloured puffer vest screams ‘model off duty’... walking her dog. (Or at least Kyla walking her dogs and feeling pretty damn fashionable!) A vest is such a versatile choice for layering and adjusting to the changing weather temps we feel over the course of a spring day.

TRY: A puffer vest.
You know I love my black stretchies... and I feel that is all this outfit needs beneath the long puffer vest. Throw it over your gym gear or basic knits. Add sneakers or Birkenstock’s and you’ve nailed athleisure 2022.

cream trench

I am gaga over this cream trench coat. I mean, do I really own something this fabulous?! In cream?! From the moment I tried it on I felt it was made for me. But I actually think it could have that power over anybody. It feels so luxurious, though it was quite accessibly priced! (H&M)

When I put it on, I feel like one of those wealthy soap opera grand dame characters. (Like Nikki Newman from Young & The Restless who’s my idol, BTW.) Just add a statement bag – and look like a million dollar diva!

TRY: A light trench.
This particular trench has the most lovely flow to it, like it was made to match the elegance of a spring dress. It is what whipped cream is to a sundae. You just have to add it on top!
