Grapefruit Sugar Scrub

Sweet skin treat.

Sugar scrubs are a natural way to slough away dead skin cells, dirt and excess sebum without drying the skin. This scrub also acts as a natural moisturizer! The beneficial affects of coconut oil create smooth and glowy skin. It’s a great gift to yourself, but I recommend making extra to share with someone special!

You Will Need:

1/4 - 1/2 of a Grapefruit

1 1/2 Cups Sugar

1/2 Cup Coconut oil

Vitamin E Oil (Optional)

Airtight Container(s) to Store

Let’s begin… this is simple and really quite fun to do! Mixing can be quite cathartic – and your space is going to smell divine! (I always wanted to work for a cosmetics company, this might be my moment!) lol

Simply add the sugar to the bowl with coconut oil (slightly softened) and mix. Then, cut out the flesh of grapefruit and gradually add it. Stir together with a spoon to desired consistency. Use your spoon to work in the fruit.

Remember, if your coconut oil is softened when mixing, the sugar scrub will thicken as it cools. It will also dry over time.

Gift & Store

Being that this scrub contains real, perishable fruit, it will be best used within the first few weeks. I like to look at this as a fancy feature! Remember my motto – ‘make it fresh!’ You’ll want to store the prepared scrub in an airtight container such as a jar. I recommend storing the bulk of the product in the fridge with a smaller helping in my shower to be used a few days at a time. Perhaps you could even try freezing some for later? I haven’t tried, but I’ll update you if I do!

Because of the nature of this scrub, it lends well to dividing up and gifting in small batches to friends. What a bougie spa gift! Find some cute containers for gifting. I found wide-mouth squeeze tubes at the dollar store that are adorable!
